How do you manage emotions when investing? Have you ever had emotions lead you to make a bad decision?

At the beginning I invested mainly based on emotions and by following other investors. Over time I started making mistakes and gaining experience. I read various books and set clear rules for myself. Today I mostly put emotions aside and make decisions based on facts and numbers.

I started out with books, yeah. Otherwise, sometimes it's useful to dig into them :D at least it helps me

My emotions control my selling and I think that's normal for most of my portfolio where I try to trade swing... I've definitely made a lot of mistakes like that and sold things that would be up today — for example Google +120% — but because I sold I wouldn't have made other trades. I'm still learning and trying to do what's best for my head — and many times it's hard to see Uber +5k and then suddenly I'm looking at a red number😎😳😄

I'm learning to take profits where I no longer see the potential, and at the same time I'm trying to avoid selling things I would have sold before, because circumstances started to indicate that my original sell forecast has been pushed higher by the market😇🍀

I sold AMD just before the boost from OpenAI, but that's one of those things where you're either "lucky" or you're not🙈

I can’t handle it. I’m worst at selling after big gains — I watch it obsessively.

These days emotions are driving the market, and that's a problem, because good numbers don't mean much anymore.

AS

Controlling emotions when investing is probably the hardest part. When making decisions, I often look at the results and let them guide me.
