High debt does not necessarily mean a bad investment. It depends on the context and the company's ability to generate stable cash flow. The following four most indebted companies on the NYSE, while they have huge debt, each of them handles it differently and investors tolerate it. Does their capital structure pose a risk or is it part of a stable business.

In this analysis, we do not include the banking companies that operate with the highest debt on the exchange. For stocks like $JPM, $BAC or $WFC , the debt structure works differently than for other companies.

Debt is one of the most closely watched metrics when evaluating the financial stability of companies. While some companies operate successfully with minimal debt, others operate with debt in excess of hundreds of billions of dollars. The key is not the absolute number of debt, but its context.
